Collection: Chinese Unglazed Bonsai Pots

Bonsai pots originating from China with an unglazed finish.

Chinese pots are misunderstood outside of Asia, here they are synonymous with mass production and hence cheapness, and that may be true of some modern pots.

In Japan, old Chinese pots are used more and more at exhibition. They come with age, history, scarcity and bring bags of patina. They are often the original reference points for Japanese pot designs.

Chinese pots may need more protection in the Winter months, Yixing clay is more porous than most Japanese bonsai pot clays. This is claimed to be good for trees, however it can be best to over-winter them under cover.
