Formal description:
Japanese bonsai pot by Yoshimura (Shuuho / Shuho). Nanban with external rim, crystalline glaze, painted signature underneath.
External dimensions:
190 x 45mm (7½ x 1¾ in)
Internal dimensions:
168 x 22mm (6⅝ x ⅞ in)
Informal information:
It looks like an over-saturated Iron glaze called 'Aventurine' that can create a large range of crystalline effects, but reduced copper could be involved too. Regardless, the effect is unique and effective. It will pair well with literati or Bunjin styled trees with either red berries, or Autumn foliage.
Condition: New, excellent.
Shuuho is a prolific 5th generation potter, carrying on his fathers kiln that opened in 1923. Much loved and revered in Japan, he continues to innovate, especially with glazes. There are some great video interviews on the Bonsai Empire and BonsaiQ channels to check out this living legend of a potter.Shipping:
