Formal description:
Handmade bonsai pot from the Yamaaki Kiln, 3rd Gen. Toshio. Square cascade, external rim, applied windows to four faces, cut feet, seal of Yamaaki and hand signed by Toshio underneath.

Informal information:
These pots with applied window frames are much more work to make than the ones with moulded windows. They do not come around often, and it is the condition of the window frames that matters most, because they are susceptible to damage if not looked after, by which I mean not knocked/bumped. Excellent clay and firing on this example.
Condition: Unused, excellent.
Yamaaki, 3rd Generation Potter Kataoaka Toshio. The kiln was started by Katakoka Akitsuga and fired by three generations of potters, until it finally went 'cold' in 2011. It was the most productive bonsai pot kiln in Tokoname, fired with gas which gives those fantastic clay colours mimicking the pots of ancient China. Toshio does seem to prefer a purplish hue much like Akitsuga. There are a lot of production Yamaaki pots available, those with nail carved signatures were hand made by the Kataoka family, and consequently more valuable.

I guarantee that the pot condition is as described and will take it back if you aren't happy with it. Items are returned at the buyers cost & risk. Please be aware that most UK couriers will NOT insure ceramic items, however it is certainly easier than returning overseas. Please get in touch if you want to return an item.
