Artisan made Japanese bonsai pot from the kiln of Seizan, Tokoname. curved sided oval with internal rim and integrated feet, seal of Seizan underneath.

Informal information:
Lovely texture and colour to this pot, his red clay is always superb. This example in particular has taken a very good, delicate patina that enhances it well.
Condition: Used, patina, two small scratches on one end (see pics), otherwise excellent.
Seizan, (Mr Kataoka Makoto, born 1939). The Seizan kiln was started in 1898 by his grandfather, Seizan started in the family business in 1946! He was a leader in the development of Tokoname bonsai pots, and after receiving advice from bonsaists including Saichi Suzuki, he developed various clays, including the silver-grey "Tokoname Udo", also named Showado. He also developed Tokoname purple mud, Tokoname pear skin and Korai mud. In 1976, he became a certified Master Traditional Craftsman.
