External dimensions:

Internal dimensions:
142 x 61mm (5⅝ x 2⅜ in)
Informal information:
A very pleasing rounded shape to this nanban pot from Matsushita of the Reihou kiln, the incised line creates the impression of a rim. The clay is typical, and the reduction firing has brought a nice blotchiness to the iron content. The shape is ideal for a saemi-cascade style, and also provides some useful depth. You can find examples of his pots online, I try to pick up the ones with the most interesting firing results.
Condition: unused, excellent.
Matsushita, Hiroyuki Matsushita, born 1960, 4th generation potter of the Tokoname Matsushita pottery, his father is Reiho. His work is a departure from ancient Chinese styles, but is based on research of old Tokoname clay, firing and making methods. He started as an avant-garde potter, but came back to bonsai pots, his work is both recognisably his and popular.
