Formal description:
Informal information:
Superb copper red glaze over the octagonal form, Jukou plays to the strength of this glaze which is how it 'breaks' to white where it's thinner. This happens naturally on edges, but he's applied the glaze at varying thickness around the pot to create variation.
Jukou is producing some really great, unique small pots with a lot of technical mastery.
Condition: Unused, excellent.
Jukou Koyo, Mr. Aiba Kuniaki, born 1973, Tokoname, 4th generation potter, son of the super famous Aiba Koyo. He learnt under his father, and I've had a few pots with the Koyo seal and Jukous signature, but as well as carrying on the family kiln, he has gone his own way too. He seems to be specialising in small numbers of one off or low-run shohin pots with a large variety of glazes, so quite different to his dads work, also popular and collectible.
