Formal description:
Japanese Kurama stone slab.
External dimensions:
470 x 350 x 25mm (18½ x 13¾ x ⅞ in)
Informal information:
A rarely available slab of genuine Kurama stone. This large piece is quite different front to back, one side (first pic) tilts towards a natural looking front.
The largest of the slabs I have available, this piece offers plenty of space to get creative! With it's weathered and Iron oxide tones, this is ready to create an impressive and authentic looking slab planting. Ezo spruce or similar look particularly good on Kurama slabs.
Notes: The slab will need some support underneath to avoid wobbling, but this is easily achieved. Consider gluing (resin) wire loops to the surface to create attachment points. I would avoid drilling to avoid damage risks and limiting future options.
Kurama stone originates from Kyoto's northern mountains, and has become famous for garden stones, suiseki, and bonsai pots and slabs. It's an Iron rich diorite (like granite) - is very hard and has attractive rust banding that echoes the colours you see in Kyoto all the time, natural and weather worn.
