Informal information:
An unusual form to this oval, I can't decide if it's Asian or just 1970's! The deep blue green glaze is soft, matte and variegated, creating an interesting but calm atmosphere.
This example has quite a lot of patina on it, which is less visible on dark glazes, but it does have an effect on the appearance.
Condition: Used, excellent.
Tosui, Mizuno Shikao, born 1942, from Seto. The Tosui line of potter is quite long and confusing, but this is Mizuno, the current generation. He trained under his father Mizuno Masao, and Chazan who was painting pots for his father. His works vary from production pots with fabulous glazes to many painted pots including famous series such as 53 Stations of the Tokkaido Road.
