Informal information:

I am a sucker for white glazes, and this is no exception. The translucent ivory glaze with a fine crackle is, to my eye, superb. This is probably an early pot by Ikkou, he no longer keeps the fabric imprint on the base seen in this example, perhaps his methods changed. The red in the seal is also unusual, I can't say if it was made like this or has been added later. Let me know if you've seen it before! it has also been used for a long time, although the sides are quite clear of patina.
White pots are very easy to pair with trees, their qualities are subtlety and serenity, or to use the Japanese terms, Shibui and Wabi. they also exhibit patina very well, and then convey a strong sense of time passing, or Sabi.

Condition: used, excellent.

Ikkou, or Mr. Watanabe Kazuhiro to give him his proper name, is a potter from Tokoname, son of Shouzan, and is recognised for producing very high quality work,  especially Shohin pots. For example, he is known to water his pots and test tiles to see how they develop patina, and then adjusts his glaze. Meticulous! Thor Holvilla has written an interesting bio on him and his work, Bonsai Empire also featured him in their videos of Tokoname potters, which you can find here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hog0yLdLdfI&t=31s.
