Formal description:

Japanese bonsai pot by Hara Shimizu. Rectangle, slight internal rim, integrated feet, recessed base, seal of Shimizu underneath.

External dimensions:
63 x 51 x 26mm

Internal dimensions:
51 x 40 x 18mm

Informal information:

Mr Hara carves these mame pots from a single block and whilst he doesn't regard himself as a professional, he is a very good and proficient artist. This lovely little Namako pot expresses a lot in a small space, which is the essence of mame.

Recently a good number of his pots became available, maybe there was a kiln opening. Well, they start to fetch a pretty penny quite quickly, so I thought I'd test the water with just one for now.

Condition: Unused, excellent.

Shimizu - Mr Hara has been making bonsai for 48 years and pots for 40, so whilst he might politely say he isn't a professional, he has a huge amount of experience! And that shows in his pots. Delicately made with interesting glazes, his work is getting more international attention and will be highly collectible in the future.
