Informal information:
Yoshimura Shuho pot ...or the Great White Elephant? The thick matt white glaze belies the size and weight of this pot, it's heavy! Great modern design with quite some patina on it. Some of this patina could be cleaned lightly, but in this case I thought it best to leave that choice to the new owner. White pots with patina are a great match for many deciduous species, this is also big enough to host a forest arrangement.
As is common with these glazes from Shuho, there are some defects, which I would say add character to the pot rather than taking away from it. They were there when it came out of the kiln, and are no risk to the integrity of the pot.
Condition - used, glaze variations, some marks, patina, excellent.
Shuuho is a prolific 5th generation potter, carrying on his fathers kiln that opened in 1923. Much loved and revered in Japan and popular worldwide, he continues to innovate, especially with glazes. There are some great video interviews on the Bonsai Empire and BonsaiQ channels to check out this living legend of a potter.
