A shohin square cascade from Tosui. A sweet little pot with imprinted designs of birds, it has a Spring like feel to it despite being nearly black. It would perhaps suit a flowering or berry producing tree.
Condition: Used, excellent.
Tosui, Mizuno Shikao, born 1942, from Seto. The Tosui line of potter is quite long and confusing, but this is Shikao, the current generation. He trained under his father Mizuno Masao, and Chazan who was painting pots for his father. His works vary from production pots with fabulous glazes to many painted pots including famous series such as 53 Stations of the Tokkaido Road.
