Artisan made Japanese bonsai pot from Keizan Hisada of Tokoname. Oval with uchibuchi in-curved rim, cut feet and seal of Keizan Hisada underneath.
External dimensions:
126 x 73 x 28mm (5 x 2⅞ x 1⅛ in)
Internal dimensions:
Informal information:
Quite a bit of water-marking on this oval, but as can be seen, it comes up very nicely with a light application of oil. The fine Tokoname shudei clay, probably reduction fired is very smooth and has an excellent colour and lustre. Keizan mostly made larger pots too.
Condition: Used, there is some water marking, but this disappears with a light application of oil as shown.
Keizan Hisada of Tokoname is deceased, it is often remarked that he was Gyouzans teacher, his own work is extremely good, inspired by ancient Chinese designs.
