Informal information:

Very attractive rectangle from Kisen. His signed works include Chinese clay with the Tokoname materials, and as seen here, it really works. The fine texture and rich colour combine with the flowing shape and feet to great effect.

Condition: Used, excellent.

Kisen Ikkodou, (Mr Koie Kiyokazu, born 1932) Tokoname. In 1955 he changed business from making clay pipes to bonsai pots. Initial work was mass production, shifting to higher quality hand made works later. Selling worldwide by 1972. Mostly made by pressing into moulds and hand finishing, firing was done in both gas and electric kilns, with richer colours from gas fired works. Works signed 'Ikkodo' are made with a blend of Chinese and Tokoname clays, these are his premium works.
