Formal description:

Hand made mame / accent Japanese bonsai pot by Yasui Gyoun, round, external rim, yellow crackle glaze over, pressed foot ring, nail signature of Gyoun underneath.

External dimensions:
92 x 37mm

Internal dimensions:
78 x 32mm

Informal information:

Yasui Gyoun is a lesser known potter outside of Japan, his production is very limited, and hence his pots are hard to come by.

This is Gyoun's classic yellow crackle glaze on a carefully hand formed, expressive red stoneware clay pot. Small details like the intentional wabi-sabi shape, glaze qualities and the detail in the foot rim are what make his pots special and sought after.

Condition: Used, patina, excellent.

Yasui Gyoun, real name Fukuji Sugiura, son of Akimu Yasui, also a maker of Shohin size pots. Born 1930 and began making pots for Shohin bonsai in 1970, his pots stem from his love of small bonsai, his hand made  and sometimes elaborate details decorate very practical wares.
