Informal information:

Yasui Gyoun is a lesser known potter outside of Japan, his production is limited, and hence his pots can be hard to come by, you may notice I'm accumulating his pots, they really are special.

Gyoun's classic yellow crackle glaze, this time on a very practical rectangle, and with a perfect patina that mellows the whole pot. Just a lovely thing, no excess ornamentation, simply a well made pot and plenty of time.

In the photos the glaze looks slightly brighter than it does in natural light, however the hue is accurate.

Condition: Used, patina, excellent.

Yasui Gyoun, real name Fukuji Sugiura, son of Akimu Yasui, also a maker of Shohin size pots. Born 1930 and began making pots for Shohin bonsai in 1970, his pots stem from his love of small bonsai, his hand made  and sometimes elaborate details decorate very practical wares.
