Informal information:
A huge (and heavy) Rinka pot from Yamaaki. With almost 15cm of depth this is ideal for a large flowering yamadori project. There is some patina, it could be cleaned a little, but is fine to go as it is. The shape has a slight warp to it, it's hard to imagine avoiding this as a potter at this size, and perhaps that could be used creatively in choosing the front.
Certainly I don't find pots this big every day, if you need a "big 'un" from a top Tokoname pottery, don't hesitate.
I can do a £25 discount on this pot if you're able to collect or wait until Bonsai Fest.
Condition: Used, light patina, excellent.
Yamaaki, 3rd Generation Potter Kataoaka Toshio. The kiln was started by Katakoka Akitsuga and fired by three generations of potters, until it finally went 'cold' in 2011. It was the most productive bonsai pot kiln in Tokoname, fired with gas which gives those fantastic clay colours mimicking the pots of ancient China. Toshio does seem to prefer a purplish hue much like Akitsuga. There are a lot of production Yamaaki pots available, those with nail carved signatures were hand made by the Kataoka family, and consequently more valuable.
