Formal description:

Japanese bonsai pot by Haruta Seifu. Square cascade with slight internal rim, lower band and cloud feet, signature of Seifu underneath.

External dimensions:
93 x 91 x 59mm

Internal dimensions:
76 x 76 x 44mm

SKU: 24805

Informal information:

Hand made using the tatara (slab-building) method, the red clay is similar in colour to Chinese antiques, but the texture is more matte and softer. Perhaps for this reason, a nice patina is already building on this pot. It could be up to 50 years old, but is more likely to be around 25.

Condition: Used, excellent.

Haruta Seifu, Real name Shizuo Haruta, born in Seto (Aichi Pref) in 1933. Has been producing small bowls since 1975, and possbily more prolific from 2001 onwards, but also worked in other ceramic disciplines, i.e. tableware. His works are appreciated for their handmade craftsmanship and matte earthenware like appearance.

Shipping:

Shipping within the UK is included in the price.

I usually ship with Royal Mail, if you prefer DPD or Evri, please add a note to your order or email. There may be a surcharge.

EU: Please get in touch with me before placing an order. I will quote you a price that includes shipping and taxes. This is the fastest way to get items without customs delays.

US: Please get in touch. Currently 0% tax on import of art works and cultural items so the price will be lower, but I will need to quote for shipping. I'm not shipping pots over 12in to US.

International: - please ask for a quote for shipping. Any import fees are the responsibility of the customer. I'm not shipping pots over 12in internationally.

Price:

UK buyers: Please note import costs when comparing this item with items overseas! These typically comprise: the shipping fee, and, on arrival, you will pay VAT at 20%, possibly import duty and a customs clearance fee. My items are simply the price advertised.

Returns:

I guarantee that the pot condition is as described and will take it back if you aren't happy with it. Items are returned at the buyers cost & risk. Please be aware that most UK couriers will NOT insure ceramic items, however it is certainly easier than returning overseas. Please get in touch if you want to return an item.

Breakage in Transit:

Sadly, despite the best packaging, it does occassionally happen. Please prepare photo/ video evidence and contact me at the earliest opportunity.
