About Us
I rediscovered an early passion for Bonsai in 2018, now able to appreciate the pace of it, rather than wanting it all 'now' or 'finished'. In fact, not trusting myself with anything well established, I embarked on growing from seed, so bonsai for me is now pre-bonsai, and at least I have learnt how to keep some trees alive in that time.
Whilst trees slowly grew, following the seasons, the world suddenly changed in 2020, and like many people who reach a 'certain age', I re-evaluated what I wanted from my work. I was led back to my art origins, and with bonsai already growing, I arrived at pottery, and it just clicked into place between my mind and my hands.
Now, I'm pursuing clay and glazes, but more than that, Japanese aesthetics, philosophy and art history. Part of that meant I realised I had to have original pottery works in my hands to understand what had gone before, and to find a path for my own work. So whilst my own skills catch up, I'm also importing and trading Japanese and Chinese bonsai pots.
Thanks for reading, and even if you're not ready to buy handmade pottery, I hope you get something from the pictures and words.
Your friend in bonsai, Jeff.
