Formal Description:

Japanese bonsai pot by Yamafusa of Tokoname. Rounded rectangle with slight internal rim, green crystalline glaze and signature of Yamafusa underneath.

External dimensions:

347 x 255 x 70mm (13⅝ x 10 x 2¾ in)

Internal dimensions:

316 x 224 x 54mm (12½ x 8⅞ x 2 in)

Informal information:

Yamafusa's version of antique copper with some interesting crystal formations. This is quite a bright glaze when new but with a good 20 years or so of patina on it, this one has a subdued and varied appearance. A rounded rectangle is slightly less soft than an oval, so it would suit a tree that is too craggy or masculine for an oval.

Condition: used, excellent.

Yamafusa aka Sanbo, Mr. Takahiko Koie is a fourth generation potter from Tokoname, the Koie kiln has been going for over a century. His focus is maintaining the traditions of the family, and also high quality, hand finished production pots. His pots are great value.
