Formal description:
Japanese bonsai pot from the Tosui kiln. Rectangle with internal rim, integrated feet, Cream / Orange glaze over, seal of Tosui underneath.
External dimensions:
192 x 141 x 66mm (7½ x 5½ x 2⅝ in)
Internal dimensions:
162 x 111 x 47mm (6⅜ x 4⅜ x 1⅞)
Informal information:
A shohin size rectangle from Tosui. This glaze comes up now and again, really great colour and variegation, especially on top!
Condition: Used, excellent.
Tosui, Mizuno Shikao, born 1942, from Seto. The Tosui line of potter is quite long and confusing, but this is Shikao, the current generation. He trained under his father Mizuno Masao, and Chazan who was painting pots for his father. His works vary from production pots with fabulous glazes to many painted pots including famous series such as 53 Stations of the Tokkaido Road.
