Formal description:

Artisan made Japanese bonsai pot from the kiln of Suishoen Hekisui, Tokoname. Rectangle with slight internal rim, incised corners, double lower band, cut feet, seal of Suishoen Hekisui underneath.

External dimensions:
311 x 242 x 77mm (12¼ x 9½ x 3 in)

Internal dimensions:
274 x 204 x 55mm (10¾ x 8 x 2⅛ in)

Informal information:

Mould made, hand finished, you can probably see why I picked this up - colour and patina. A really well aged pot suitable for both conifers and deciduous trees, this great value Tokoname pot will add a real sense of gravitas to any tree.
Note - on the rear of the pot there is a grog 'pop' - grog is prefired clay added to clay for strength - here it has emerged during firing - nothing to worry about, the pot has clearly been used for many years with this.
Condition: Used, excellent, grog pop as mentioned in description.

Suishoen Hekisui (Mizukami Shozo), founded in 1933, famous as a master of the potters wheel. Production had ceased by the early 2000s after a generation of manufacture. Principally made 40cm pots, in later years made small and larger pots. Methods used were hand pressing in moulds and casting.
