Formal description:
Handmade Japanese bonsai pot by Shinzan Terahata / Mazan (Seto). Rectangle, external rim, lower band, cut feet in Oribe green glaze. Seal and nail signature of Shinzan Terahata underneath and also seal to one side.

Informal information:
Hand made using a mould, this is Mazans most popular glazed pot style, both elegant and imposing. The Seto clay with Ruri glaze is a fantastic combination, the cobalt is deep and vibrant with a fine crackle. With some patina this will become truly impressive piece.
Condition: Used, excellent.
Mazan, Mr. Shinzan Terahata, born 1945, he established his kiln in Seto. His early pots were mould made, but around 1985 he bored of this and started making all hand made pots. His clay is a unique blend of Seto, Tokoname and Chinese clays, which is high-fired. Many glazes are ash based - Seto has a long tradition of pottery and a number of famous glazes. He typically signs and seals all of his handmade pots.
