Formal description:

Japanese bonsai pot by Aiba Kouyou / Koyou / Koyo of Tokoname. Drum with two rows and three peaks of nails, incised lower rail, seal of Koyo underneath.

External dimensions:
318 x 72mm (12½ 2¾ in)

Internal dimensions:
280 x 56mm (11 x 2¼ in)

Informal information:

A popular and practical pot from Koyo, often called "Silver Juniper", the finish is a sprayed slip which is very effective, it has a lot of character even without years of patina. Typical excellent construction from Koyo, and in perfect condition, ideal for a tall Conifer. 20-40 years old I would estimate.

Condition: Excellent.

Koyo, Mr. Aiba Kouichirou, born 1944, from a familiy of potters. He founded the Koyo kiln in the 1970's, his work always very popular. Perhaps his most famous glaze is the green crystal oribe, which changed over time and really gained it's own identity apart from the famous ones of Tofukuji and Ino Shukuho.
