Informal information:
Fun mame pot from Satomi. Very slight mokko shape, it could be mistaken for an oval. But of course the feature here is the painted striped pattern, really charming. The Seto clay is quite thick, so there's less growing room than you might think, but it's a good size for display and quite unique, I haven't seen another like it.
Satomi Terahata, from Seto, still active. Daughter of Shinzan Terahata (Mazan) she's a very popular potter, almost entirely shohin and mame glazed work. Her glazes are mainly traditional ones like Tenmoku, Oribe, Seto yellow etc, and then she adds a modern twist like a brighter streak or splashes.
Seto is one of six ancient kilns of Japan, Satomi uses traditional clay from the area, it is normally used quite thick and has an attractive warm tone.
