Informal information:
A popular style from Koyo, perhaps one that has grown in popularity as modern minimalist styles have this century. Interest comes from the grey slip sprayed over the pot. As can be seen in the last photo, the pot naturally has a very flat, "Dry" look; however with a little oil it comes to life with gold and black tones contrasting the grey. Great depth makes it very practical too.
Condition: Used, excellent.
Koyo, Mr. Aiba Kouichirou, born 1944, from a familiy of potters. He founded the Koyo kiln in the 1970's, prolific output, strong, well made frost resistant pots; his work is always very popular. Perhaps his most famous glaze is the green crystal oribe, which changed over time and really gained it's own identity apart from the famous ones of Tofukuji and Ino Shukuho. His pots are reliable as well as great to look at.
